On Thursday, January 11, 2023, the Swachh Survekshan 2023 Awards were announced, revealing that Indore in Madhya Pradesh is now the 7 times cleanest city in India. Surat also secured the top position alongside Indore.
Maharashtra emerged as the cleanest state in India, with Madhya Pradesh securing the second position. Additionally, two districts from Madhya Pradesh made it to the top 10 list of the cleanest cities in the country.

Madhya Pradesh Cities in The Cleanest City Of India
In the cleanliness rankings for Indian states, Madhya Pradesh secured the second position among different state of India. Among its 52 districts, Indore claimed the top spot, while Bhopal secured the fifth position in the list of the cleanest cities in India.

The Swachh Survekshan 2023 Awards began in 2016 as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban. In the 2023 edition, they assessed 4,416 urban areas, 61 cantonments, and 88 towns along the Ganga. To determine cleanliness, they collected feedback from 1.58 crore people online and had face-to-face interactions with 19.82 lakh individuals. This involved a large number of people in the evaluation process.
