Shoaib Bashir, a young spinner, made a great debut for England in the second Test against India. In his first international match, Bashir took the crucial wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, proving why he was selected by Stokes.

Shoaib Bashir To Rohit Sharma

Shoaib Bashir got Rohit Sharma out, caught by Ollie Pope! It was Bashir’s first wicket in his debut match, and it happened to be the Indian captain. The delivery was a fast off-spinner, pitched outside off, and spun in sharply.

Rohit tried to guide it but was caught off guard by the speed and spin, resulting in an edge towards backward square. Ollie Pope made a quick and smart catch. Rohit scored 14 runs off 41 balls before being dismissed.

How Shoaib Bashir Become Ben Stokes Top Choise?

The England captain doesn’t focus solely on scores or statistics, he has his unique perspective. After watching Shoaib Bashir’s video, Stokes immediately shared it with a WhatsApp group that includes head coach Brendon McCullum and ECB managing Rob Key. Stokes admitted that the first time he saw Bashir was on Twitter, where a County Championship account shared a video clip of him bowling against Sir Alastair.

The next day, Bashir played his first-ever first-class match in the County Championship against Essex. In his first bowling stint, he faced the experienced Alastair Cook, who had an impressive record with over 26,000 runs and 73 centuries, especially in handling spin bowling well.

Bashir’s second delivery landed on the stumps. Cook attempted a forward defensive shot, but the ball spun sharply and bounced, making Somerset wicketkeeper James Rew reach up high to catch it.

Rohit Sharma struggle Continues in 2nd Test

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, continued to struggle in Test cricket during the second Test in Visakhapatnam against England. He was dismissed early by debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir, who claimed his first Test wicket in just his fourth over.

Despite Rohit’s effort to play cautiously and improve from the previous match, he managed to score only 14 runs in 41 balls without hitting any boundaries. The disciplined bowling by England and Rohit’s careful approach ultimately led to his dismissal.
