IND vs ENG 2nd Test: These Two Players of England Will Return and Can Become the Biggest Threat to India

England has revealed its playing XI for the second Test against India in Visakhapatnam, led by Ben Stokes.

The announcement, known for its bold approach, came a day before the match. Unfortunately, left-arm spinner Jack Leach is out due to a knee injury from the Hyderabad Test. Sohaib Bashir steps in, marking the second debut for England after Tom Hartley on this tour.

Debut For 20 Year Shoaib Bashir

A 20-year-old spinner, Shoaib Bashir, will make his debut for England against India in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test on Friday. He faced delays in getting a visa and was stuck at home until recently. Bashir, a British Muslim with Pakistani roots, had visa issues, drawing comments from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s office, emphasizing fair treatment for British citizens by India.

IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Shoaib Bashir Become Ben Stokes choice

Sohaib Bashir, an off-spinner, arrived in India on Sunday after securing his visa. Despite having only played six first-class matches, the tall Somerset player caught the eye of captain Stokes during a training camp in Abu Dhabi before the India series.

Bashir was a unexpected addition to the squad, with Stokes personally recommending him after witnessing a good spell against legendary England opener Alastair Cook in a County Championship match last year.

In his first practice in Visakhapatnam, Sohaib Bashir troubled England batters, making him a challenge for the inexperienced Indian batsmen.

James Anderson is back as the only fast bowler, replacing Mark Wood. Wood was picked in Hyderabad for his pace, but the team now prefers Anderson for his expertise in reverse swing, crucial in Indian conditions.

England New Strategy in 2nd Test

Initially, England considered playing four spinners, but Joe Root’s effective spin bowling made them reconsider. The team ultimately chose three spinners, Hartley, Sohaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed. After Ollie Pope’s outstanding 196 in the second innings, it was anticipated that the batting lineup would remain unchanged.
