Virat Kohli Become ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2023

ICC 2023 Awards: Experienced Indian batsman Virat Kohli has been named the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2023 due to his outstanding performances in the 50-over format. He was also the Player of the Tournament in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, scoring over 700 runs.

The International Cricket Council recognized Kohli for his excellent batting contributions, which played a significant role in India’s unbeaten run until the semi-finals of the global tournament. This marks the fourth time Kohli has received this award, having previously won it in 2012, 2017, and 2018.

After performing well in 2022, Kohli continued his impressive performance in the 2023 World Cup. He was named the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding contributions. In 11 innings, he scored half-centuries in nine of them, totaling 765 runs. This set a new record for the most runs scored by any batter in the history of the World Cup, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli also achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first batter to score 50 centuries in the ODI format. Throughout the World Cup, he maintained an impressive average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.31, recording three centuries in the process.

Suryakumar Yadav Become Men’s ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year

Suryakumar Yadav had an outstanding 2023, finishing as the highest run-scorer in T20Is among Full Member nations. This performance earned him the men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award for the second consecutive year. He competed against Sikandar Raza, Alpesh Ramjani, and Mark Chapman to win the award.

Suryakumar began the year with a score of 7 against Sri Lanka but quickly bounced back with innings of 51 (36) and an unbeaten 112 (51) in the next two matches. Throughout the year, he played 17 T20I innings, accumulating 733 runs at an average of 48.86, including five half-centuries and two centuries.

Usman Khawaja Become Test Cricketer of The Year 2023

ICC 2023 Awards: Khawaja had a fantastic year, standing out as the only player to score more than 1000 runs in Test cricket. He gathered 1210 runs in 13 matches, including three centuries and six fifties. Following him closely was his Australian teammate, Steve Smith, who ended 2023 with 929 runs in 13 matches.

In the race for the prestigious award, Travis Head, India’s star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, and England’s reliable Test batsman Joe Root were also nominated. However, Usman Khawaja emerged as the winner, beating the other nominees to receive the honor.

Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian cricket team, had a highly successful 2023, both as a leader and a player. He received the men’s Player of the Year award at the ICC 2023 Awards announced on Thursday, January 25.

Cummins played a pivotal role in leading Australia to victory in the ODI World Cup and securing the World Test Championship title. Additionally, he contributed to retaining the Ashes series in England with a drawn result.
