On August 6, 1997, a significant day for the Jaipur Royal family, Diya Kumari married Narendra Singh Rajawat, a chartered accountant. They had three children together. The marriage, however, came to an end in December 2018.

Their eldest son, Padmanabn Singh, born on July 12, 1998, was adopted by Bhawani Singh as his successor in the royal family on November 22, 2002. Padmanabn Singh officially became the ‘Maharaja’ of Jaipur on April 27, 2011. The couple also has a second son named Lakshraj Singh and a daughter named Gauravi Kumari.

Kumari joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on September 10, 2013, in front of a large crowd of over two lakh people. The event took place in Jaipur and was attended by prominent figures like the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Rajnath Singh, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Diya Kumari ran as a BJP candidate in the 2013 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election from Sawai Madhopur and won a seat as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). In 2019, she was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) to the Lok Sabha from Rajsamand.

Aside from her political role, Diya Kumari is involved in various business activities, including managing schools, trusts, museums, hotels, and non-governmental organizations. She also takes care of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust and the Jaigarh Fort Charitable Trust, among other projects.

Diya Kumari runs a foundation called the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation. She is actively involved with various non-profit organizations and was even awarded an honorary doctorate from Amity University, Jaipur, for her efforts in heritage management and philanthropy.

In the Rajasthan Assembly polls, Diya Kumari won the Vidhyadhar Nagar seat with a significant lead of 71,368 votes. She was considered a potential candidate for the position of Rajasthan chief minister within the BJP.
