Bhajan Lal Sharma New CM Of Rajasthan What We Know?

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA, as the new chief minister of Rajasthan. This decision comes in the wake of the party’s recent overwhelming triumph in the state.

For the upcoming general elections next year, MP-turned-MLA Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa have been chosen as the deputy chief ministers of Rajasthan, aiming to balance caste equations. Although Bhajan Lal Sharma may not be widely recognized beyond the borders of Rajasthan within the BJP, he promptly expressed his gratitude to the seasoned Vasundhara Raje, a two-time chief minister herself.

What We Know About Bhajan Lal Sharma?

Bhajan Lal Sharma is a new Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Sanganer assembly constituency. He’s close to the BJP’s leaders RSS and JP Nadda.

According to his official documents for the election, his father is named Kishan Swaroop Sharma, and he’s 56 years old.

Even though Bhajan Lal Sharma is serving as the current MLA for Sanganer, this is his first time in this role. Despite being new to the MLA position, he has played a crucial role in the BJP’s structure in Rajasthan.

Notably, he has been the general secretary for the Bharatiya Janata Party four times. In the recent 2023 Rajasthan assembly elections, he won against the Indian National Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj with a significant lead of over 48,000 votes.

New Appointments For Rajasthan State Assembly

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa as the deputy chief ministers of Rajasthan. Vasudev Devnani is set to become the new Speaker of the Rajasthan Assembly.

Rajnath Singh, the BJP central observer for Rajasthan, announced these appointments, stating, “Bhajanlal Sharma has been elected as the leader of the Rajasthan BJP Legislature Party. There will be two Deputy CMs – Diya Singh and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa. Vasudev Devnani to be the Speaker.”

Sharma expressed confidence that his government would fulfill the expectations of the people of Rajasthan. He assured, “All the MLAs of Rajasthan will definitely meet the expectations that the people have with us, with the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we will ensure holistic development of Rajasthan in all areas.”

Vasundhara Raje Herself proposed Name of Bhajan Lal Sharma For Post Of CM

Vasundhara Raje was considered a top contender for the Chief Minister post in Rajasthan, along with Diya Kumari, Balak Nath, and Kirodi Lal Meena. However, given the BJP’s recent trend of announcing relatively unknown names for the CM positions in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, there were speculations of a surprise choice in Rajasthan as well.

Since the announcement of election results on December 3, Raje had engaged in several meetings with MLAs at her residence and also visited the national capital to discuss matters with the party leadership. Despite this, the party ultimately selected Bhajan Lal Sharma over Raje and the other contenders.

Interestingly, during the Rajasthan legislature party meeting, it was Vasundhara Raje who proposed Bhajan Lal Sharma’s name for the chief ministerial position. Sharma expressed his gratitude to the BJP leadership, acknowledging Raje’s supportive gesture.

What Bhajan Lal Sharma Said After Appointing His Name For CM?

“I want to express my gratitude to PM Modi, BJP president JP Nadda, Union home minister Amit Shah, and defence minister Rajnath Singh. Additionally, I extend my thanks to former CM Vasundhara Raje for putting forward my name as the new BJP legislature party leader,” Bhajan Lal Sharma conveyed in appreciation.

Pramod Sharma, Bhajan Lal Sharma’s brother-in-law, expressed joy at his selection, saying, “The BJP has entrusted such a significant responsibility to an ordinary worker, which is beyond imagination. This is characteristic of the BJP—elevating ordinary workers to prominent positions. He will fulfill his responsibilities admirably. Although unexpected, PM Modi always brings such surprises.”

Back-To-Back 3rd Surprising Decision Taken By BJP Party

Following Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh and Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh, Bhajan Lal Sharma marks the third unexpected selection for the chief ministerial role by the BJP.

The party has opted for less obvious choices, bypassing well-known figures like Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, and Raman Singh. Instead, the BJP has entrusted relatively unknown faces to lead the governments and steer its strategies for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
