Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Said Rahul Gandhi Will Be Arrested After Lok Sabha Election

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi will be taken into custody after this year’s Lok Sabha elections. The leader of the Congress party, who is currently on a journey called ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ passing through Assam, is under police investigation for supposedly encouraging “unlawful acts of violence” in the state.

Why Police FIR Registered Against Rahul Gandhi?

Recently, Rahul Gandhi was on a journey called Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. When the yatra reached Assam, there was an incident where he was prevented from entering a temple, leading to violence. The Assam police took notice of the reported violence during Rahul Gandhi’s yatra and filed a case on their own.

They registered an FIR against several Congress leaders, charging them with things like criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, rioting, assault, obstructing public servants from doing their job, damaging public property, and more. The Director General of Police, G P Singh, mentioned that the case has been handed over to the Assam CID for investigation.

Today, Rahul Gandhi challenged the Assam government, saying they can file as many cases against him as they want. He stated, “I don’t understand why Himanta Biswa Sarma thinks he can scare me by filing cases… Go ahead and file 25 more cases. The BJP-RSS cannot frighten me.”

Earlier today, in response to the Congress accusing that the Yatra was being stopped in Assam, Sarma said, “Did they use a rocket launcher to reach Barpeta from Nagaon? They were just told not to take a certain road but another one. They engaged in violent behavior by attacking public servants who were on duty.”

Gandhi and Sarma have been exchanging criticisms for several days. They both have called each other coward and corrupt. In a post on X, Sarma claimed that Gandhi left the city in his fancy bus.

“It’s amusing. Rahul Gandhi, who is on a Bus Yatra, left his luxurious bus and quietly left the city in a small car to go to Hajo, his next stop, after urging Congress workers to create violence. Rahul has shown a new level of being afraid. Ha ha.”
