“Approx 1 Year Since Mohammed Siraj Last Wicket in Test Match in India”, Still Playing Cricket in Team India, Know Full Details

On Saturday, England had an impressive comeback and won the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs. Ollie Pope stood out as the star player, earning the Player of the Match award for his outstanding 196-run innings in the second inning. While defending a target of 231, the English bowlers dismissed India for 202 in 69.2 overs.

In the first test match, experts noted that Mohammed Siraj might not be fitting well into the team, as Captain Rohit Sharma hasn’t utilized him much. Additionally, it was highlighted that Siraj hasn’t taken a wicket in a Test match in India for about 354 days, which is approximately a year.

Mohammed Siraj Has Not Taken Wicket in Test in India From Approx. 1 Year

As per a report, it’s been about a year since Mohammed Siraj took a wicket in a Test match in India. The last instance was in February 2023 when Australia played against India. During the first match of the series, Siraj managed to take just one wicket in the first inning by dismissing Khawaja. However, for the rest of the series, Siraj couldn’t secure any wickets, and since then, he hasn’t taken a wicket in Test matches on Indian soil.

Parthiv Patel suggested that instead of playing Mohammed Siraj, India could consider adding a specialist batter to strengthen their batting lineup. He also pointed out that India has the option of including Kuldeep Yadav instead of Axar Patel.

Parthiv mentioned that although three spinners might be sufficient, if Siraj is not being utilized much, it makes sense to bring in an extra batsman for added batting depth.

This way, India would have a variety of bowlers in Ashwin, Jadeja, and Kuldeep, and the additional batter would contribute to a stronger batting lineup. Parthiv emphasized that there’s no point in playing a bowler like Siraj if he’s only going to bowl a few overs in the match.

Team India for 2 Test Against England

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul won’t be playing in the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 2. Jadeja got a hamstring injury on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad, while Rahul has a right quadriceps pain. The BCCI medical team is keeping an eye on their recovery.

Expected Team For 2nd Test

To fill the gaps, the Men’s Selection Committee has added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar to India’s squad.

The updated squad for the 2nd Test includes players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar.
