IPL 2024 Matches: On Thursday, February 22, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) shared the plan for IPL 2024, beginning on March 22. The Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, will kick off the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at 8:00 pm IST.
Due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BCCI has only disclosed the schedule for the initial 21 IPL 2024 matches, covering a span of 15 days, from March 22 to April 7.

Chennai Super Kings will be playing the opening match of the IPL for the ninth time, making them the franchise with the most season opener appearances in IPL history. Mumbai Indians are second in this record, having featured in the opening match eight times.

In the second IPL 2024 Matches, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will face off, marking the first double-header of the season. This game is scheduled for March 23 at 3:30 pm IST in Mohali. Interestingly, Delhi Capitals will play their initial home matches at a different venue.
The DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) informed the BCCI that they cannot get the stadium ready in time due to hosting the final for WPL on March 17. As a result, Delhi Capitals will play their first two home games in Vizag.

Before the official schedule release, Parthiv Patel, an expert for IPL 2024, mentioned the possibility of a new rivalry between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. This speculation arises from Hardik Pandya’s trade from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians during the pre-season trade window.
The clash between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians is set for March 24, Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
