Bhagavanth Kesari Movie Review: Storyline
Nelakonda Bhagavanth Kesari (Balakrishna) wishes Vijaya Lakshmi, aka Viji (Sreeleela), to become strong and brave. He has a good reason for wanting her to join India’s Army. However, Viji has no interest in it. Rahul Sanghvi, played by Arjun Rampal, pursues Viji for an enticing reason. What is the reason behind his pursuit of Viji? What is the relationship between Bhagavanth and Viji Kesari? Bhagavanth Kesari had a previous connection with Rahul. Viji joined the Army? The movie will answer all these questions.
Plus Points
Nandamuri Balakrishna, who has delivered two superhits, Akhanda and Veera, Simha Reddy, returns in an interesting role suited to his age. This allows him to give a strong performance. He is a perfect fit for the role and delivers a series of punchy dialogues and mass dialogues in Telangana. His exceptional delivery skills are on display.
Sreeleela is a standout in her role of Viji. She displays good acting skills in emotional scenes. She is a great addition to the film, especially in her action scenes alongside Balakrishna. Her combination scenes with Balakrishna are also enjoyable.
Anil Ravipudi blends mass elements and an emotional drama focused on a fatherly character and a woman. He relies on comedy less this time around, given NBK’s fame.
Thaman again shows his ability to enhance the action and emotional scenes through his powerful background music.
Minus points
The story needs more depth and is predictable. The film’s first half is dominated by the director’s plot, leaving little room for surprise in the second. The second half is dominated by flashbacks, which do not support the story.
Watching the second half would have been more interesting if it had been written better. Several scenes in the second part may need to be more varied.
Balakrishna looks great in the promotional material, but he appears strange in another outfit that was kept secret for the theatre experience. Anil Ravipudi could have presented this avatar better.
Kajal’s Aggarwal has a small role in the film, and her scenes with Balakrishna could be more memorable. Anil Ravipudi has fewer of his signature comedy scenes in this film.
Arjun Rampal is okay but not outstanding. Anil Ravipudi should have played him more evilly.
The action sequences were watchable but could have been better, especially at the end. The VFX is not up to expectations and should have received more attention.
Technical Aspects
Anil Ravipudi did a commendable job presenting Balakrishna as a character that suited his age. However, a stronger focus on the screenplay and story in the second part could have greatly benefited the movie.
Thaman’s score elevates emotional and action scenes. The production value is satisfactory, as are the editing and cinematography.
