Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have come together for the highly-anticipated film, Khushi movie. Recently, it was confirmed that its official release date will be 1st September 2023 – making this one of this year’s most highly-anticipated releases.
Khushi movie will be a romantic comedy film written and directed by Shiv Nirvana starring Vijay Deverakonda as its protagonist and Samantha Ruth Prabhu as its leading lady alongside Jayaram and Sachin Khedekar in supporting roles. Samantha included an emoticon to emphasise its significance while Vijay shared one that read “Whole Heartedly….” with his post.
Samantha had revealed that she suffers from myositis – a rare autoimmune condition. After this revelation, the shooting of Kushi was temporarily put on hold while production resumed – eventually coming to an end on September 1, 2023.
Samantha recently apologised on Twitter to Vijay Deverakonda fans for Kushi’s brief absence, writing: “#Kushi will return soon…my apologies to @TheDeverakonda Fans @ShivaNirvana@MythriOfficial.” Vijay Deverakonda responded positively by tweeting back that all his fans “are waiting with open arms for your return in good health and with your big smile! We can’t wait!”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently prepping for the release of her latest film, Shaakuntalam, written and directed by Gunasekhar and produced by Neelima Guna (Gunaa Teamworks) under Sri Venkateswara Creations.

This film chronicles Shiva and Jenny, college friends who meet during their freshman year but eventually drift apart due to miscommunication. Their love eventually grows strong enough for them both, yet their egos prevent them from staying together. Based on a classic Kashmiri romantic drama.

Kushi was the first Tollywood film with an all-Hindi song composed and written by Abbas Tyrewala for its remake from Tamil, featuring Vijay & Jyothika as leads; its remake became more successful than its source material and Gemini secured satellite rights at an initial cost of 1.5 crore, though MAA TV later acquired them for Rs. 1.6 crore.
Kushi remixed an iconic Missamma track called Aadavari matalaku Ardhale verule into their song Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale verule, inspiring many college students to wear hoodies or tops over t-shirts as seen in Pawan Kalyanan’s Kushi movie.

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have high hopes for Kushi as it follows the box-office failures of Liger and Shaakuntalam.
Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s earlier releases have both proven disappointing at the box office; Vijay’s Liger failed despite being heavily advertised across India while Dil Raju called Shaakuntalam “an enormous disappointment that severely disrupted his business”, while Shaakuntalam has had its impact felt across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana where Kushi became a hit film.
Vijay has built up an immense fan base in Tamil Nadu not only because of Samantha but also for his romantic films Arjun Reddy and Geeta Govindam which proved hugely successful across their respective tier two cities.
Ramesh BALA, a film trade analyst, predicts that even with its soft opening in Tamil Nadu for Kushi it will still collect at least Rs 1 crore across Chennai and surrounding Tamil districts. Due to be released across 250 cinemas in Tamil Nadu tomorrow release date. Though only earning between 1 to 2 crore initially; word-of-mouth should help grow it quickly according to him.
Ramesh responded that while film performance can affect an actor’s career, “it shouldn’t as both have established bodies of work, this film marks their critical appearance after having experienced respective failures”.
Deepak, a trade analyst based in Hyderabad echoed this sentiment by noting, “The last film an actor has done doesn’t matter anymore; times have changed and content, packaging, and overall appeal should now dictate success in film.
Deepak anticipates that Kushi will open in approximately 750 theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, earning between Rs 14-15 crore in gross revenue on its opening day alone; theatrical sales for this film have already generated Rs 35 crore!
Kushi has generated much excitement since its trailer and Hesham Abdul-Wahab’s songs premiered, as well as Vijay Deverakonda’s on screen chemistry with Samantha Ruth Prabhu at its prerelease event.
