India Historic win Over New Zealand in ICC World Cup 2023

The hosts, India, under the leadership of skipper Rohit Singh, have been in great form this year, dominating their opponents and recording impressive victories. India has been the most composed team at the ICC World Cup 2023, with their batting and bowling units doing the job for the Men in blue.

New Zealand, on the other, had a great start to their tournament with a win over England. They have been going from strength to strength ever since. The Kiwis won all of their matches despite the absence of their captain and perhaps their most reliable middle-order batsman, Kane Williamson.

New Zealand and India have been rivals for years. New Zealand eliminated India from the World Cup in a heartbreaking semifinal defeat, then beat them again to win their first World Test Championship.

World Cup 2023: New Zealand Full Match Highlight

Rohit Sharma chose to bowl the first over, and while India had a stifling ten overs against New Zealand in Dharamsala’s cool climate, Ravindra & Mitchell made India sweat. Due to Hardik’s injury and Shardul’s drop, the batters felt the lack of a six-seamer as they smashed spinners Kuldeep Yadav & Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep conceded 32 runs in just his first three balls, a stark contrast from the first ten overs. In the first ten overs, the Indian seamers were unrelenting. Mohammed Shami dismissed Will Young in his first ball in that period.

India had to bowl Jadeja 10 consecutive overs and end with a score of 0/48. Bumrah dropped Mitchell on the boundary, and the ball went for four. The partnership between Ravindra and Mitchell finally went beyond 150. Shami finally ended the Indian pain in the 34th Over when he dismissed Ravindra after 87 balls for 75. Kuldeep took Tom Latham, the New Zealand captain, soon after. Mitchell remained unfazed. Mitchell eventually scored his 5th ODI hundred. New Zealand was all out for 273, and the Indians fought back.

New Zealand scored 273 runs in the first innings despite losing all their wickets. This was thanks to Mohd Shami, who took five wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also claimed two wickets, and Bumrah, Siraj and Bumrah each had one wicket. India needs 274 runs to win the match.

Rachin (75) and Mitchell (130) from New Zealand built a solid partnership despite a slow start. After 200 runs, they continued to lose wickets until they lost all of them by the 50th over.

Mohammed Shami returned with a five-wicket haul, making him the first Indian player to achieve this feat twice in ODI World Cups.

India dropped three catches and had a rare, ordinary day on the field. Kuldeep Yadav was the most expensive, but he got important wickets for Tom Lathan and Glen Phillips.

World Cup 2023: India Inning Highlight

Rohit Sharma gave India an early lead in Sunday’s World Cup 2023 match in Dharamsala. Shubman and Rohit combined to chase down 274 runs against New Zealand. Lockie Ferguson removed Rohit after he had scored 46 (40) runs. Gill was dismissed by the pacer for 26(31) shortly after. Virat Kohli added 52 runs with Shreya Iyer before Trent Boult removed Iyer from the game for 33(29).

KL Rahul joined in the action and added to Kohli’s 50-plus stand before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner (27(35)). Suryakumar, who was also making his World Cup debut, couldn’t do too much either. A mix-up between Kohli and Yadav brought an early conclusion to his stay in the middle. Kohli, on the other hand, is still firmly in place at one end. He has also already reached his half-century.

India vs New Zealand

Kohli did everything he could to ensure India would win this Ind-NZ match. Kohli scored 95 runs and was out when India needed five runs to win. Ravindra Jadeja hit a winning run by hitting a superb four.

Jadeja scored the winning runs. The team reached the 274-run target in 48 overs. Jadeja and Shami are still unbeaten with scores of 39 and 1, respectively.

How Kohli got out

Kohli wanted to end the game as quickly as possible. He struck Trent Boult with a four in the over and a six. It resulted in 12 runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed with a score of 95. He tried to hit Matt Henry’s fuller shot out of the park but was caught at the fence.
