Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: What We Know So Far

James Wan’s Aquaman is currently the only DCEU movie to have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. The film is a hit for many reasons – Atlantians riding seahorses and sharks, creepy creatures from the depths, and crab people. There is a fun element that Shazam! Touched on as well, but in Aquaman, face-melting effects are used almost every time. Now its time to watch how Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will boom in the box office.

The opening of Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) sets the tone for the action-packed ’80s film. Aquaman is a complete homage to 1980s action movies, including a hunk and one-liners. It also includes action punctuated with punctuation. Arthur struggles to accept his responsibilities towards Atlantis and the people on Earth. The film takes place just after Justice League. He is a protector of the ocean, but destiny forces him to intervene in Atlantis’ royal affairs when his half-brother Orm orchestrates a war with the surface.

In the movie, Jason Momoa, who plays Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, is back as King of Atlantis. Momoa took to his Instagram account to announce he’d be bleaching/highlighting his hair again a day before his first day of shooting would begin in London. Khal Curry released a sneak peek at the new suit. Viewers can choose between the ornate gold and green armour salvaged from Aquaman and the new, sleeker, darker stealth suit.

Wan said the suit is “Atlantian Tech based on cephalopods’ camouflaging abilities.” The suite also has a more muted colour scheme and is not as bevelled. It also lacks fins and gauntlets on the boots.

Amber Heard returns as Mera, Atlantean water-bending Atlantean. Despite high-profile tabloid and courtroom drama, Heard reprised her role in additional photography for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. She will again assume the role of Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom. She shared a photo and video of herself doing suspended push-ups in preparation for the superhero film.

Yahya Abd-Mateen II will return as Aquaman’s human antagonist, Black Manta. He posted about his return and showed his excitement.

In an interview with the THR, he was quoted as saying: “In Aquaman we only got a little introduction to Black Manta, and some of his motives. This one allows me to breathe and exercise a bit more. I’m showing different colors with it,” and “It gives actors many good storytelling moments.”

Orm, the character played by Patrick Wilson, is also returning. Wilson shared a silhouette of a sweaty Wilson taken in April. James Wan also revealed a first glimpse of Orm, who looks more like a castaway buff than an Ocean Master. He’s toned, tanned and, surprisingly, on land.

The cast includes Willem Dafoe as Nuidis, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Rand Park as Dr. Stephen Shin. Stephen Shin.

Aquaman 2 Plot: What is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom all About?

While we may not yet have a full plot synopsis for Aquaman 2 or Aquaman & the Lost Kingdom, we do have a brief (official) Summary:

“When an ancient force is unleashed by Aquaman, he must form an uneasy alliance to protect Atlantis and the rest of the world from irreversible destruction.”

Aquaman may have usurped Orm at the end of the first film, as Orm was defeated.

The sequel will likely pick up at the beginning of King Aquaman’s reign, dealing with his first challenge as Lord of Atlantis. Momoa claimed in October 2019 that everything was “mapped.”

The writer has given us a few teasers about the sequel.

Johnson-McGoldrick told a Twitter fan they were not adapting any specific comic book story. Still, you can understand the tone by reading any Silver Age stories featuring Black Manta.

Wan also posted specific hints about Atlantis, the lost kingdom known as Necrus. In the comic book, Necrus, a disappearing city, is foiled by Atlantis. The city disappears, only to reappearance in other places through the marvel of technology.

Why the trend to boycott AQUAMAN 2, has been on social media?

Some DC fans are unhappy with the release of James Wan’s DC film Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Social media has seen the hashtag “Boycott Aquaman 2”. DC fans wonder why.

The simplest explanation would be that fans are simply fans. The fans get upset over certain things and then embark on a movie boycott because they dislike it. Amber Heard is a controversial figure in the Aquaman sequel. Some people don’t care for Amber Heard.

People are upset because she’s not in the film much and hasn’t played a major role in the marketing. There’s also the DC Cinematic Universe, which James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting. Aquaman might not be a part of that future. So why bother watching the movie?

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to release on December 20, 2023, promises to continue the underwater adventures of Arthur Curry with director James Wan at the helm. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and more.

While the plot remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, it’s evident that Aquaman will face a new threat, uniting with unlikely allies to save both Atlantis and the world. However, the film isn’t without its controversies, as some fans express their dissatisfaction online, leading to the trending hashtag, “Boycott Aquaman 2.”
